We examined a more economic definition for an old school concept: Needs and Wants. We also discussed how the value something has is personal to the individual and is reflected in the price they would pay for an item (or sell the item).

2) Ten Principles of Economics
We examined more carefully the idea of Opportunity Cost by watching two short videos that demonstrate several economic concepts, but especially Opportunity Cost.

Agenda
1) Textbook
Textbooks were assigned today. The replacement price is somewhere in the neighborhood of $90. But more importantly, I need a copy of the book. If you lose it, look online and buy a used copy for about $5. We will use the textbook a lot for homework. I am asking you to keep the book at home. Do not leave it in your car, I prefer it if you don't bring it to school to reduce the amount of wear and tear.

2) Civility
We worked individually, then in pairs, then together as a class to develop expectations for the class. It is more difficult than it seems, we spent the entire class period trying to come up with a working definition for Empathy and Integrity. We didn't even get to Tolerance today!

Homework
1) Opening Day Checklist
Make sure to legitimately complete the Opening Day Checklist. If you have been unable to get onto the Google Classroom with your school login, I have added links to all the documents on the Caggia Social Studies website.

2) The Nature and Method of Economics
Read and Note pages 3-12
